Types of online gender-based violence & what to do

Online gender-based violence (OGBV) takes many forms and across a range of digital platforms. The manifestation of violence online also evolves as technology advances or when new design features or platforms are introduced. This is because OGBV is closely tied to historical discrimination and gender inequalities and technology offers new means for OGBV to duplicate, spread through new and unexpected forms.

The following categories are forms of OGBV that we have observed through our research and monitoring.
